I received an email from Missy's mom and she is doing great at her new home. She is a little frightened of thunder so she finds her safe spot on the back of the couch.

Missy
This will be the last entry in Missy's blog. It has been a great 3 months having her in our family. She has provided us with lots of love and laughs. She is now with her forever family in the northeast. She holds a very special place in my heart. I want to thank everyone that had a hand in her rescue. I want to thank my sister, Sherry for the Kuranda Bed project. If it was not for this project, I would never have met Missy. Thanks so much to our board member, Gary who graciously provided the financial cost for her heartworm treatment. I also want to thank MAGRR for allowing her to be adopted through the golden rescue even though she was a lab. Thanks to Phyl and Carole for working to make sure that she went to a great home. Thanks to Baily's mom, Anna in the northeast for completing the home visit. I don't want to leave out Karma, Cedar and Robbie. Thanks for helping us foster Missy. As you can see, it takes a lot of people to make these adoptions work. Thanks to all our MAGRR volunteers for your dedicated time and love you give to our goldens. Last, but not least, thank you Missy for loving us. Missy has left her paw prints on our hearts. Gerry

Anyone want a treat?

Retrievers are a big help.
We had a thunderstorm last week and lost several trees. The goldens and the labs were a big help in cleaning up the tree limbs. They were all facinated by the big limbs. Since Missy's tranport was delayed, she got to help with the work. They really thought they helped just by being there. I did not tell them anything different. People just don't know what they are missing when they don't have dogs around.

Missy is Miss Personality
We have really enjoyed our time with Missy. She has so much personality. We can always count on getting a cute picture of this sweet girl. We will truly miss having her around. On Thursday, I went for a walk (in the 100 degrees) and every song on my ipod had lyrics that reminded me of Missy. There is just one little thing that makes this fostering business hard. You guessed it, having to say goodbye. Why I have songs such as "I Will Remember You", "You Found Me", "These are the Times of My Life", and "Come Back to Me" on my ipod is beyond me. I sure can pick the sad songs. In fact, most of these songs remind me of all my fosters. Even though I will never see them again, I have great memories of them all. This one may tug at my heart strings just a little harder. We love you Missy.

Missy is a busy girl!
I have several new pictures to post. First of all, Missy had a field trip to my sister's house. They are on vacation and we are taking care of their two Brittanys. She met Gracie and Gidget and loved running around the backyard. She took a look at the pool, but she was not interested. She loves to go for a ride in the car and she is a great car rider. When we got home, she finally rested on the Kuranda bed. This morning, we took another ride to my sister's house and then to the vet for Missy to get her health certificate. She was such a good girl (a little nosey), but she was so well behaved. She waited patiently while I was getting her paper work. We then stopped off at Lynn's house and Missy met the cat. She was not really interested. I think she will do fine with cats.

Dinner and a movie!
Last night was great. We had dinner, and then we went to the movies. Well, not literally. We watched a movie on the big screen TV. My foster mom even baked chocolate chip cookies for the event. Somehow, in the mist of getting all settled to watch the movie I never did get a cookie. What's up with that. I worked hard helping her bake those cookies and I didn't even get one. Oh well, that's the way things go around here. I did get to sit in my favorite chair to watch the movie though. The movie was boring so I just took a nap. If you are wondering why there is a picture of some lab feet, well they were trying to decide who was bringing in the most sand. I can't help it if sand sticks to my feet. Just when this picture was taken, I heard Cedar and Karma outside. They were running around playing chase through the sand. Oh, and by the way, Karma was winning. I don't know how she does it with only 3 feet but she is fast. Cedar does not usually play because he likes to stay close to his mom. He is one of those mama's boys. I was inside minding my own business and helping with those cookies and my feet get their picture taken. They are cute feet though. Missy

Can it get any hotter?
Hi, Missy again. It is so hot in Memphis that my tongue is getting tired. Thank goodness for air conditioners and ceiling fans. I will admit that not much has been happening around here. We do go outside for a little while but with this humidity, I'm loving the cool concrete floor. I did find a little time to play with Cedar and Karma. I keep trying to go under Cedar but he gets fussy. Enjoy my video. Missy

What a weekend!
Missy here again. I had a really busy weekend. First of all, my foster dad had a big load of sand delivered to our house. He worked hard getting all that sand spread around in the front and back yards. Boy are we having fun in that sand. I don't think he realized at the time that 4 retrievers don't really mix well with sand. My mom has been sweeping most of the weekend. We love to go outside and play chase through the sand. Karma even laid out like she was at the beach. We had to stay inside while he made lots of trips taking the sand to the backyard so I had to stand guard at the front door. You know those Golden Retrievers had to get their beauty rest while I stood guard. Anybody remember that Paul Simon song that says "I'll stand guard like a postcard of a Golden Retriever"? Well, it should have been a Labrador Retriever. When my dad came in to rest, I was so excited that I had to get in his lap. My mom keeps telling me that I am a lab, not a lap dog. What does she know anyway?

Missy
Hi, Missy here. I caught my foster mom not looking and I hijacked the computer. I just had to change my blog background and post a picture. When you are a lab, in a golden rescue, you have to be creative just to get people to look at you. Of course, my foster parents already loved labs because Cedar looks just like one. I know, you have heard the story before (I have heard it several times myself). Cedar's mom was a golden, but I bet his dad was a yellow lab. He stills calls himself a golden retriever but I think he is a golden mix. I think I am a yellow lab, not a mix. Since Karma and Robbie are goldens, I try not to mention the lab word around Cedar. Anyway, I decided to get more comfortable on the couch and my mom took a picture. She went on and on about how cute I was, so I have decided to do it again. It does not take much to get your picture taken around here. The other picture is the last one that was taken of my friend Buddy and me. He traveled to Vermont last Friday. Well, it is after 10:00 and past my bed time. Later, Missy
This is Cedar. What do you think? Lab or Golden?

Miss Missy
I took a few more photos of Miss Missy. I tried to tell her that she is a lab and not a lap dog, but she did not want to hear any of that. She loves to get in her foster dad's lap. If anyone is wondering why Missy has her own blog, let me explain. When I first rescued her, I was not sure that MAGRR could post her as an adoptable golden because she is a lab. So, I made her a separate blog. After a few weeks, we decided that she should be a MAGRR dog (she thinks she is a golden anyway). Now that she has her own blog, she really thinks she gets special treatment and I just don't have the heart to tell her that she is a foster girl. So, I will just continue to post her info to her own blog. She also likes to have a cute background.

Missy
Missy here. Just wanted to post an update. I am still at my foster home. I'm not really sure what the word foster means, but that's ok. I love playing with my best friend Karma. She is so cool. She only has three legs, but she sure can run fast. We are always finding fun things to do. We like to play tug and we like to play wrestle. I don't mean to brag, but I am a good girl. I love hanging out with Cedar and Robbie too. Buddy, the other MAGRR foster is going to his new home on Friday. He is going to travel to Vermont on Friday. I think my foster mom took a cute picture of me last night. I will remind her to post it tomorrow. It is about my bed time, so talk to you later. By the way, if you think I might make your family complete, go to the MAGRR website and find out how you can adopt me.

Missy goes swimming!
We took Missy, Cedar and Robbie to Shelby Farms for a swim yesterday. I think this was the first time that Missy has been swimming. After she played in the water a little, she adventured out and began to swim. Not bad for a beginner.

Missy goes on a field trip.
Missy had to go to the vet's office this morning to get her MAGRR baggie and her microchip. She loves riding in the car and she was such a good girl at the vet's office. She met several other dogs in the waiting room and she just minded her own business. Everyone loved this sweet girl.

Missy is looking for a family!
Hi, this is Missy. My foster mom told me that it was time to start looking for my own family. She did not say it in a bad way, it's just that I am a foster dog and it's time to look for my forever home. Somehow, I ended up at a shelter and MAGRR was kind enough to help me out. I was at the shelter for over a month when my foster mom rescued me. I think it was a blessing in disguise because I had heartworms. No one really wants to adopt a dog and then have to spend the money for heartworm treatment. One Friday, my foster mom came to my rescue. I have really enjoyed being with my foster family. I am housebroken and I get along with other dogs. I have 2 foster brothers and a foster sister. My house is a little busy right now because we also have another foster, Buddy. He is recovering from his heartworm treatment too. I think he has been adopted and will go to his new home is several weeks. So, that leaves me here, to look for a family.
I have on the red collar.
